Your profile

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
• Minimum 5 years of professional experience, ideally with a focus on group or consolidated accounting
• In-depth knowledge of local GAAP (HGB); IFRS is a plus
• Proven experience in coordinating with external auditors and tax advisors
• Strong expertise in monthly and annual closing processes, including consolidation
• Proficiency in ERP systems (e.g., DATEV, SAP, or similar) and advanced Excel
• Fluent in English; proficiency in German is a plus
• Independent, structured, and solution-oriented working style with strong attention to detail and accuracy
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines
• Proactive mindset with a focus on continuous improvement
• Ideally located in Cologne, Germany, with a valid work permit

If you are passionate about accounting and financial excellence, join our team as a Senior Group Accountant! Take ownership of group accounting processes, ensuring accurate and timely monthly closings and annual financial statements. You will play a pivotal role in driving efficient financial operations and shaping innovative solutions for trading scrap metal and building a greener future.

Your mission

• Manage the monthly, quarterly, and annual group closing and consolidation processes, including intercompany reconciliations
• Prepare, review and maintain group financial statements in compliance with local GAAP (HGB)
• Liaise with external tax advisors and auditors to ensure smooth audits and tax filings
• Ensure compliance with statutory and regulatory reporting requirements while developing and maintaining robust accounting policies and internal controls
• Deliver management reporting, financial analysis, budgets, and forecasts to support decision-making
• Act as a subject matter expert for accounting matters within the organization
• Drive process improvements, automation initiatives, and system enhancements in close collaboration with our tech team
