Senior Java Developer – Energy Trading

Our client, a leading player in the energy trading sector, is seeking an experienced Senior Java Developer to join their high-performing trading technology team. This is a fantastic opportunity to work on cutting-edge systems supporting large-scale commodities trading operations across Europe.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, build and maintain high-performance, low-latency services and integrations for energy trading systems.
• Develop and optimise RESTful APIs using Spring Boot.
• Work closely with traders, analysts and other technologists to deliver scalable solutions in a fast-moving environment.
• Implement robust messaging and event-driven architectures leveraging Apache Kafka.
• Contribute to best practices, code reviews and continuous improvement across the engineering team.

Required Experience

• Proven track record in commodities trading technology (energy trading highly desirable).
• Strong expertise in Java and Spring Boot.
• Solid knowledge of REST API design and development.
• Hands-on experience with messaging systems, especially Apache Kafka.
• Ability to work effectively in a distributed, remote team environment.

Contract Details

Location: Fully Remote (Europe)
Duration: Initial 12-month contract with high likelihood of extension.
Budget: Open / Outside IR35.
