Senior Lead AC Control Automation System Engineer (m/f/d)

Overview

As a Senior Lead Control Automation System Engineer, you will report to the Control & Protection Engineering Manager and be part of a team working on the requirement, design, integration, installation, and commissioning of HVDC Control & Protection Systems. Lead Control Automation Engineer scope covers design, testing and deployment support for the digital control system of HVDC substations to guarantee high availability and protect people and equipment.

Responsibilities

• Customer requirements capture and analysis.
• Definition of control system architecture for a HVDC project.
• Build and update signal list of the project.
• Define control test strategy and define detailed test plans and procedures; execute/lead/supervise tests execution.
• SCADA/HMI development.
• Lead and support FAT tests for his/her scope.
• Collaborate with Project Manager, technical experts, site team, and others to ensure successful delivery of scope.
• Interface with equipment supplier; monitor manufacturing of cabinets and supervise Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT).
• Participate in investigations of technical problems and establish procedures and corrective actions to avoid recurrences.
• Assist site activities relevant to installation and commissioning of the control system.
• Prepare replies to customer comments on technical submittals in coordination with project management.
• Attend meetings with customers/contractors/consultants for technical discussions as needed.
• Coach and mentor new engineers with less experience.
• Participate in department continuous improvement activities.
• Follow department standard design practices, engineering reviews and guidelines; apply engineering policies and procedures.
• Support department Continuous Improvement activities.

Required Qualifications

• Degree in Electronics/Electrical/Automation engineering or related field.
• Minimum of 10-year experience in Control system development in similar HVDC-related applications (Oil&Gas, Electrical Substations, transmission and distribution).
• Good understanding of Electrical systems engineering.
• Strong knowledge of communication protocols and networks.
• Working experience with IEDs (Intelligent Electronic Devices).
• Strong knowledge about communication design (Fiber Optics, Ethernet network, etc.).
• Strong knowledge of norms, standards, and technologies of Control design in electrical transmission and distribution systems (e.g., IEC 61850).
• Knowledge of HMI and SCADA systems.
• Ability to understand electrical drawings.
• Tools: MS Office (Word, Visio, Excel); technical documentation and communication skills.
• Languages: English.
• Availability to travel ~10% of time.

Desired Qualifications

• Knowledge in Cybersecurity.
• Knowledge about HVDC stations and main components.
• Languages: French.
