The Opportunity

As a Senior Manager of Field Engineering at Grafana Labs, you will lead a team of high-performing Field Engineers. The Field Engineering team serves as solution SMEs for Grafana, accelerating and improving the path to technical win. You will oversee global GTM execution with sales leadership, help acquire new customers, and build tools to speed the technical win. You will coach a diverse team, collaborate with Solutions Engineering to maintain the Demo environment, work with Marketing on top-of-funnel programs, and partner with Product Management and Engineering to ensure customer value and influence the roadmap based on field feedback.

What You’ll Be Doing

• Attract, recruit, ramp, and mentor a team of Field Engineers from diverse backgrounds.
• Coach and develop your team with an individual mentoring approach.
• Balance workload across account engagement, project development, engineering, competitive intelligence, conferences, and enablement.
• Direct day-to-day work based on leadership guidance, owning planning, actions, and outcomes.
• Act as a culture carrier, valuing collaboration and right outcomes over individual credit.
• Build strong cross-functional relationships and foster teamwork.
• Participate in healthy debate while maintaining openness to alternatives.
• Partner with Sales to drive top-of-funnel programs, marketing initiatives, and community events to raise Grafana’s profile.
• Understand key customer adoption strategies and develop enabling programs and collateral.
• Ensure customer requirements are met through collaboration with Product Management and Engineering.
• Own and report on quarterly cadence of the team as they assist prospects with discovery, demos, stakeholder interviews, workshops, and technical validation.

What Makes You a Great Fit

• 10+ years in the high-tech industry with roles such as Developer, Sales Engineer/Architect, SRE, or Manager.
• 5+ years of people management experience in a sales organization.
• Experience mentoring, developing people, and managing performance over time.
• Direct experience selling monitoring, data, or visualization products.
• Open Source selling or Cloud-first/Product-led go-to-market experience is a plus.
• Experience implementing a formal sales methodology (e.g., MEDDPICC) and related qualification frameworks.
• DevOps experience (IaC, CI/CD, GitHub Actions) a plus.
• Experience with complex, enterprise sales.

Compensation & Rewards

In Germany, the OTE compensation range for this role is EUR 151,000 – EUR 181,000. Actual compensation varies by level, experience, and skillset. All roles include Restricted Stock Units (RSUs). We emphasize shared outcomes and alignment with Grafana’s global scale.
