Senior Mechanical or Composite Design Engineer (m/f/d) – Motorsport – UK

Join TOYOTA GAZOO Racing Europe’s UK branch as a Senior Mechanical or Composite Design Engineer. The role focuses on WEC LMH, GT3/GT4, and WRC motorsport projects.

Location: Epsom, UK
Travel: Travel to Germany required.

Overview: We are expanding our UK design engineering capabilities. We seek experienced engineers with strong composite and mechanical design skills across high-performance motorsport.

Responsibilities

• Design gearbox, drivetrain, and suspension components.
• Chassis design – roll cage, subframes, seat and safety equipment, dashboard, steering wheel, and pedal box.
• System integration design across engine cooling, fuel, hydraulics, pneumatics, HV systems (including batteries), and braking systems.
• Design structural and non-structural composite components and assemblies – specifications, drawings, ply books, tooling, jigs, and fixtures.
• Support automotive engineering prototype projects.
• Ensure timely delivery of projects within agreed cost limits and complete documentation.

Qualifications

• Degree in Mechanical or Automotive Engineering (or equivalent).
• Strong design skills and solid knowledge of modern technologies and materials.
• Good understanding of geometric dimensioning and tolerancing.
• Proven experience in motorsport component layout and high-performance design (F1, LMH/LMDh, GT3, GT4, Rally).
• Proficiency in CATIA V5, FEM analysis, classical calculation methods.
• Familiarity with data management systems (Teamcenter) and MS Office.
• Racing mindset – enthusiasm for motorsport, flexibility, resilience, willingness to go the extra mile.
• Team-oriented mindset with responsible, analytical, and creative working style.
• Willingness to travel when required.
