Senior Optical Engineer - Quantum Hardware / Quantum Computing

Are you driven by the challenge of shaping light into precision tools that power the future of computing? We are looking for a Senior Optical Engineer to help design and build the optical backbone of our clients’ next‑generation quantum hardware.

In this role, you will take ideas from concept to lab reality, developing and refining complex optical systems that push the limits of performance and stability. You’ll design, align, and optimize both free‑space and fiber‑based setups, collaborate on custom optical and optomechanical components, and contribute directly to the evolution of quantum technologies.

What you’ll do

• Design, assemble, and align advanced optical systems for neutral atom manipulation
• Collaborate on the design of custom optics and optomechanical components
• Optimize system performance, balancing precision and manufacturability
• Automate, monitor, and troubleshoot optical subsystems for reliable operation
• Document designs and alignment procedures, and actively participate in design reviews

What we’re looking for

• Master’s or PhD in Optical Engineering, Physics, or a related field
• 5‑8+ years of hands‑on experience with optical and optomechanical systems
• Proficiency with Zemax, SolidWorks, or similar CAD tools
• Strong understanding of lasers, modulators, resonators, and high‑NA systems
• A passion for precision optics, prototyping, and creative problem‑solving
