Senior Physical Design Engineer

Join a world-class R&D group working on the design of advanced semiconductor chips that power next-generation automotive safety and autonomous driving systems. The team covers the full spectrum of chip design, and every engineer takes end-to-end responsibility — from definition and execution all the way to tape-out.

The Opportunity

As an Experienced Physical Design Engineer, you’ll own physical design blocks through the full backend flow, working closely with design and architecture teams. You’ll contribute directly to the success of state-of-the-art SoCs, optimizing power, performance, and area (PPA) while ensuring signoff-quality results. This is a hands-on role where you’ll make a real impact on chips going into production.

What You’ll Do:

• Take block-level ownership of physical design from RTL → GDSII.
• Drive synthesis exploration and deliver clean netlists with scan insertion and checks.
• Collaborate with front-end and architecture teams to guide floorplan exploration.
• Perform static timing analysis (STA) at block and top level, working with constraints and timing closure.
• Execute place & route from netlist to final layout with signoff verification.
• Optimize designs for power, performance, and area.

What We’re Looking For:

• BSc or MSc in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related field.
• 5+ years of experience in physical design.
• Solid expertise in synthesis, floorplanning, place & route, STA, and signoff.
• Strong skills in scripting languages (Tcl, Python, Perl, TCSH).
• Team player with excellent communication skills, customer orientation, and a “can-do” attitude.
• Advantage: experience building or maintaining backend implementation tools and flows.
• Advantage: experience with advanced process nodes (7nm, 5nm, etc.).
