We are an early‑stage startup funded by leading European VCs with the mission to build advanced small Unmanned Autonomous Vehicles (UAVs) to strengthen European sovereignty and security. Our focus is on UAV platforms and ground control systems, with plans to expand into maritime, ground, and multi‑domain defence systems.
What We’re Looking For
We’re seeking a Senior UAV Embedded Software Engineer to join our core engineering team and shape the software foundation of our autonomous flight platforms.
This is a high‑impact, technical leadership role at the intersection of flight control, autonomy, and embedded systems. You’ll architect and deliver mission‑critical software that drives the performance, reliability, and safety of our UAVs in demanding real‑world environments.
The Day‑to‑Day
- Lead the architecture and development of onboard UAV software using ROS 2, PX4, ArduPilot, or similar flight control systems.
- Design and optimize real‑time control algorithms in C++ for embedded Linux and mixed‑criticality environments.
- Integrate advanced sensors, payloads, and communications systems into robust flight software stacks.
- Collaborate closely with hardware, avionics, and autonomy teams to ensure seamless end‑to‑end UAV operation.
- Drive system validation through simulation, lab testing, and live flight trials, including in‑field debugging and performance optimization.
- Contribute to software and systems architecture decisions enabling scalability across multi‑domain unmanned systems.
- Mentor junior engineers and establish best practices in embedded software engineering and CI/CD workflows.
You Should Apply If You
- Have 8+ years of professional experience in embedded robotics, aerospace, or UAV software development.
- Have a proven record of leading complex software programs, from architecture through deployment, in real‑time or mission‑critical domains.
- Are highly proficient in C++, and experienced with Python or Rust for automation and tooling.
- Are skilled with frameworks and tooling such as ROS 2, Docker, CI/CD pipelines, Git, and modern deployment systems.
- Have hands‑on experience with PX4, ArduPilot, or equivalent open‑source flight control frameworks.
- Understand real‑time systems, communication protocols, and embedded Linux internals.
- Thrive in a fast‑moving, innovation‑driven environment where priorities evolve rapidly.
- Are eligible for EU security clearance (or equivalent).
Nice to Have
- Background in defence, aerospace, or other safety‑critical domains.
- Familiarity with Yocto or similar build systems for custom Linux distributions.
- Experience in electronics or hardware integration, including schematic design and proficiency with Altium Designer.
- Contributions to open‑source robotics or flight software projects.
