About the team

The Group Tax team is responsible for all tax matters concerning the Unzer Group which includes legal entities situated in Germany, Austria, Luxembourg and Denmark. This role is a mid-level to senior role and will directly report into the Group Head of Tax.

What your work will look like

• You will report to the Group Head of Tax and support in managing Unzer Group’s tax position in Germany and across Europe
• Be responsible for and oversee the tax compliance obligations of the group, including managing the requests from external tax advisors and providing information as required on a timely basis
• Prepare and submit the monthly VAT return submission of the German parent entity of the Group
• Review of tax audit requests, provide requested information to the external tax advisors / tax authorities and undertake discussions with external tax advisors on tax findings
• Monitor cash tax payments and ensure these are duly settled in collaboration with the Treasury and Accounting teams
• Support in updating and maintaining the transfer pricing documentation of the Group
• Manage ongoing and ad/hoc VAT queries from within the Unzer business
• Support in ad hoc requests from within the business and provide tax guidance as required
• Support in the establishment of the Group Tax Function, tax related processes and input into the group tax policy
• Support with tax due diligence, tax structuring and tax modelling on buy-side and sell-side transactions
• Assist in group restructurings
• Support in the direction of complex tax research and formulation of tax-planning strategies

What you need to be successful in this role

• You are a tax qualified professional (Steuerberater or with a similar tax qualification)
• 4+ years of experience in international taxation in a Big 10 Advisory firm or Financial Services Sector or a Corporate Group
• Fluent in German and English
• Effective at working with key stakeholders
• Demonstrated project management and coordination skills
• Ability to work autonomously and to prioritise workloads particularly when under pressure
• An appetite to do things differently and challenge processes where necessary
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
• Excellent team player
