This is an excellent opportunity to join one of our User Journey cluster at mobile.de . We are looking for a strong and experienced Tech Lead to team up with a small and senior team (Business, Product, Customer Service, Sales) in Berlin and a motivated and skilled off-shore tech team to maintain and develop an existing product further to the demands of our market and dealers.
What you’ll do
Drive technical strategy and architecture decisions - Own the technical roadmap for customer-facing applications, ensuring scalable and pragmatic solutions align with business objectives
Bridge technical and business stakeholders - Translate business requirements into technical specifications and communicate technical constraints and opportunities to product, UX, and business teams
Oversee the complete development lifecycle - From initial specification through production deployment, ensuring quality gates, timelines, and deliverables are met across distributed teams
Establish and enforce engineering standards - Define coding practices, review processes, and technical guidelines for both local and offshore teams to maintain code quality and security
Manage stakeholder relationships - Act as the primary technical contact for product owners, business stakeholders, and leadership, providing regular updates on progress and technical decisions
Lead and manage our offshore development team - Provide technical direction and ensure delivery quality while working across time zones (+3/4 hours)
Drive continuous improvement initiatives - Identify opportunities for process optimization, tooling improvements, and technical debt reduction to enhance team productivity and product quality
Who you are
Senior Engineer with 5+ years experience and tech leadership experience
Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
Experience with Google Cloud Serverless Stack: Google App Engine, Cloud Functions, Cloud Monitoring, FinOps, Cloud SQL, Firestore
Experience with Node.js, JavaScript, SQL, NoSQL, Next.js + Flutter would be a strong plus
Experience in managing and performance evaluation of external developers
Cloud Native architecture knowledge, particularly Serverless Architectures
Can-do attitude and willingness to take ownership of pragmatic technical decisions with minimal guidance and involvement from the rest of the P&T team
AI Fluency:
Strategic Implementation: Ability to evaluate and integrate AI tools (coding assistants, automated testing, deployment optimization) into development workflows while maintaining code quality and security standards
Team Leadership: Guide technical decisions around AI adoption, establish best practices for AI-assisted development, and mentor team members in responsible AI usage
Risk Assessment: Understand capabilities, limitations, and potential pitfalls of AI tools, ensuring appropriate human oversight and dependency management
Fluent English and good German language skills (B2 or better)
Willingness to travel occasionally to our potential new outsourcing partner and work with a team in a different time zone (+3/4 hours)
