As part of its development, SMT Africa is currently looking for a Site Manager on a remote mining site in Guinea (FIFO rotations). Summary As Site Manager, you will work directly at our client's mining site (FIFO rotations). You will be responsible for carrying out the maintenance activities assigned to you, while ensuring the productivity of the team and the proper execution of the work, being aware of mining operations and customer priorities. You will be the daily representative of SMT Africa. As a Site Manager, your key responsibilities include but are not limited to: The Mining Site Manager ensures the safe, efficient, and reliable operation of the mining equipment fleet by planning, organizing, and supervising all maintenance activities. Reporting to the SMT Mining Director, you will lead a multidisciplinary team to achieve performance, reliability, and safety targets, while ensuring accurate, timely, and data-driven reporting on all maintenance and operational activities. Leadership and Team ManagementManage and support shift supervisors to plan and organize shift activities, including equipment deployment, personnel assignments, and task prioritization.Coordinate with operations, maintenance, and logistics teams to ensure efficient resource utilization.Conduct meetings and reviews, address concerns, and foster teamwork and problem-solving.Communicate objectives and ensure adherence to operational plans.Provide leadership, guidance, and motivation to maintenance personnel.Facilitate hands-on learning and ensure knowledge retention through continuous follow-up and feedback. Safety ComplianceEnforce safety regulations, protocols, and best practices to maintain a secure working environment.Conduct regular inspections and audits and promote a safety-first culture. Performance MonitoringMonitor maintenance performance against reliability targets, equipment utilization, and schedules.Identify inefficiencies and implement corrective actions.Analyze data to identify improvement areas. Collaboration and CommunicationCollaborate with engineers, technicians, planners, and client representatives to align activities with operational goals.Communicate effectively across departments and provide regular updates. Documentation and ReportingMaintain accurate records of maintenance activities, incidents, and reliability data.Generate reports and presentations on performance, challenges, and improvements.Manage spare parts needs, tool inventories, and supply coordination.Ensure compliance with manufacturer standards and company policies. Who would complement our team best?3–5 years of experience as a Site Manager or equivalent5–7 years of hands-on experience in maintenance, overhaul, and troubleshooting of mining equipment.Extensive experience with Volvo articulated haulers and large Volvo excavators (50t+) and knowledge of mining operations.Strong leadership and reporting skills, with proven experience managing field teamsExcellent communication and interpersonal skills across all levels of the organization in multicultural environments.Strong planning and multitasking abilities in a fast-paced mining context.Capable of maintaining performance and decision-making under high-stress situations typical of mining operations.Fluent in English (French is a strong plus)Flexible and open to working on a FIFO rotation Proficient with Volvo diagnostic tools and electronic parts catalogs (Techtool, Prosis); OEM training certifications highly valued (Volvo dealership experience recommended)Sound understanding of maintenance performance KPIs and reliability principles.Valid driving license (Category B) Why join SMT Africa ?
