Statutory and Tax Accountant Germany

Hybrid remote position in Germany - Travels in Alsfeld or Norderstedt are required

The role of the Statutory and Tax Accountant Germany is to oversee the accounting agendas of the German companies of the Sealed Air Corporation and is responsible for compliance with the commercial and tax regulations for these companies.

The majority of bookings and financial processes are carried out in the service center. Thus, close cooperation and support of the employees in the service center is an important area of responsibility.

Furthermore, this position is available as a competent contact and discussion partner for other departments (local and international) and works on various projects.

Responsibilities

  • Control of monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements in US GAAP
  • Close collaboration and exchange with other finance departments
  • Contact person and coordination of various audits (auditors, internal audit, etc.)
  • Preparation and timely submission of the local commercial balance sheet and tax returns in close cooperation with auditors and tax advisors
  • Preparation or coordination or timely submission of other reports (Bundesbank, Federal Statistical Office, etc.)
  • Support of the service center and other functions in day-to-day business
  • Close cooperation with the HR department and external insurance mathematicians in the preparation of the pension report
  • Compliance with assigned internal control requirements
  • Competent contact and discussion partner for other departments
  • To partner with other functions for further process improvements
  • Participation in local, cross-border or global projects
  • Management responsibility for 1 employee

Profile

  • Degree in economics, ideally with a focus on controlling or accounting, or a comparable qualification (e.g. completed accountant course)
  • Several years of relevant professional experience in finance or accounting
  • Solid knowledge of the German Commercial Code (HGB)
  • Good knowledge of German and English, both written and spoken
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Structured, goal- and result-oriented way of working
  • Flexible, independent and self-reliant work
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
  • Very good MS Office skills, especially Excel
  • SAP knowledge is an advantage
