The Faculty of Science, Institute for Physics and Astronomy, Astrophysics Group at the University of Potsdam invites applications for the following position limited to three years, to be filled by Month June 01, 2026:

Postdoc Position

The successful candidate will work 40 hours per week (100 %). The position is classified within remuneration group 13 of the collective wage agreement among the German federal states (“Tarifvertrag für den öffentlichen Dienst der Länder” – TV-L). The fixed term of employment is in accordance with Section 2 subsection 1 of the German Act on Fixed-Term Employment Contracts in Science and Academia (Wissenschaftszeitvertragsgesetz or WissZeitVG). If necessary, an extension of up to three years is possible if personal and legal requirements are met.

The Scope of Your Responsibilities

The Applicant is expected to work on topics in the field of plasma astrophysics. Responsibly processing of research tasks and independent elaboration and performance of courses on sector of Plasma Astrophysics are included. Attending to master and doctoral students are self-evident.

Further academic qualification (post-doctoral thesis (Habilitation)) is possible. At least one-third of working hours is available for in-depth academic work.

Your Qualifications

Master’s and PhD degree in Physics or Astronomy
Applicants with expertise on plasma astrophysics/space physics, (GR)MHD and/or PIC simulations, interstellar and interplanetary turbulence, cosmic ray physics are particularly encouraged to apply.
Beside the specialist skills social skills are expected too.
