Position: Account Manager - Diagnostic Solutions

Location: Cologne Region, Germany

Client: Medical Technology/ MedTech

Main Responsibilities

  • Drive sales of integrated diagnostic solutions within the assigned territory (greater Cologne region).
  • Acquire new customers and expand existing relationships across hospitals and laboratories, engaging with stakeholders at all levels (e.g., physicians, procurement, purchasing departments).
  • Develop and execute strategic territory plans based on market potential analysis and customer segmentation.
  • Take full ownership of sales and profitability targets within the region.
  • Identify, define, and manage customer projects in alignment with agreed marketing and sales strategies.
  • Manage complex sales cycles using structured and strategic selling methodologies.
  • Position the product portfolio effectively along the customer value chain.
  • Monitor market trends and competitor activities to identify opportunities.
  • Maintain accurate sales documentation, opportunity tracking, and reporting using CRM systems (e.g., Salesforce).
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with sales, marketing, product management, technical support, and customer service teams.
  • Represent the company at industry events, workshops, and exhibitions.
  • Provide selective support in complaint management when required.

Main Requirements

  • Minimum of 2+ years’ experience in sales of diagnostics, medical devices, or laboratory solutions.
  • Experience in molecular diagnostics and/or microbiology (through education or sales experience).
  • Proven track record of selling to hospitals and/or laboratories.
  • Native‑level or fluent German and very good English skills.
  • Degree in biology, biotechnology, medical technology, or a comparable scientific field (or equivalent background).
  • Demonstrated sales success in consultative or solution‑based selling environments.
  • Strong commercial acumen, including sales planning and performance management.
  • Solid analytical, conceptual, and strategic thinking skills.
  • Proficiency in CRM systems (e.g., Salesforce) and standard IT tools.
  • Willingness to travel extensively within the assigned territory (approximately 80%).
