Accounting Director – Germany (Workday Financials)

Keylime Consultants are partnering with a European technology‑led organisation to appoint an Accounting Director – Germany . This role sits within a pan‑European finance structure and carries full ownership of the German accounting function.

The Role

The Accounting Director – Germany will be responsible for end‑to‑end accounting operations across Germany, leading a team of approximately 10 direct and indirect reports across General Ledger, Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable. The role combines senior people leadership with hands‑on technical accounting responsibility and close collaboration with European finance stakeholders. Regular engagement with the business in Bavaria, via monthly on‑site visits , is a core requirement. Some Workday Financials exposure is required, as the system underpins accounting operations and ongoing process improvement.

Key Responsibilities & Experience

• Lead, manage and develop the German accounting function, with responsibility for approximately 10 direct and indirect reports
• Own HGB accounting, month‑end close and statutory reporting for Germany, ensuring accuracy, compliance and strong financial governance
• Act as the primary point of contact for auditors, tax advisors and internal stakeholders
• Partner closely with European finance leadership on reporting, controls and accounting policy
• Drive process improvement, standardisation and automation using Workday Financials
• Strong hands‑on experience with Workday Financials is essential
• Deep knowledge of German accounting standards (HGB), with a Bilanzbuchhalter (IHK) qualification strongly preferred
• Business‑fluent German and English, with the ability to operate effectively in a European, matrixed environment
• A track record of successfully managing and developing accounting teams at a senior level
• Willingness to travel monthly to Bavaria

This role offers a circa €140,000 base salary , complemented by a bonus and competitive benefits package . The position operates on a hybrid working model and provides the opportunity to take on a senior leadership role within a European organisation .
