Accounting Manager | B2B SaaS Scale-up | Munich / Hybrid

The Client

A founder-owned, profitable B2B software business headquartered in Munich, building enterprise workflow and compliance tools for the manufacturing and supply chain sector. Founded in 2013 by two engineers who set out to replace the legacy systems holding their industry back, the business has grown entirely organically - no outside investment, no private equity - to a team of around 160 people across six European offices.

With a strong recurring revenue base and a client list that includes some of the most recognisable names in European manufacturing and industrial distribution, the business is at an inflection point.

They are professionalising their finance function ahead of a planned expansion into new markets, and are looking for an experienced Accounting Manager to own the German entity accounting and help build the processes that underpin that next chapter.

The Munich office is young, flat, and entrepreneurial - high trust, low bureaucracy, and a genuine appetite for improvement over the status quo. This is a team that wants someone who will enhance the role, not just maintain it.

The Role

Reporting directly to the CFO, this is an individual contributor role at the heart of the European finance function. You will own the full accounting cycle for the German entity, working closely with a Finance Assistant and liaising regularly with the Group Finance team.

This is not a maintenance role. The business is mid-way through an ERP implementation, has improvements to be made across dunning, and has a busy audit cycle. They want someone with the initiative to own those problems and drive them forward - not someone who waits to be told what to do.

Key Responsibilities

Financial close and reporting

• Full ownership of month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close under HGB, including all entries, accruals, and reconciliations
• Preparation and review of financial statements (Balance Sheet, P&L, Cash Flow Statement) for both German and French entities
• Detailed variance analysis and management accounts presented to the CFO and Group Finance on a monthly basis

Treasury and transactional

• Management of accounts receivable, including AR ageing, dunning, and collections
• Preparation of vendor payments and ongoing cash flow monitoring
• Monthly expense reporting

Compliance and external relationships

• Primary point of contact for the external accounting firm and tax advisor
• Review and sign‑off on VAT returns and corporate tax filings prepared by external accountants
• Active participation in the annual audit cycle

Projects and process improvement

• Active contribution to the ongoing ERP implementation
• Lead the design and implementation of an e‑invoicing solution
• Proactive identification of process improvements across the accounting function

What They’re Looking For

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or equivalent
• 3–5+ years of hands‑on accounting experience, with direct ownership of the monthly close cycle
• Solid experience working with external auditors - this is a significant part of the role
• German and English fluency - both are required (written and spoken)
• Strong working knowledge of German GAAP (HGB)

Preferred

• Experience with international entity accounting
• Background in a software, SaaS, or multinational business environment
• Knowledge of German or European tax (VAT, corporate tax, loss carry‑back)
• CPA, CIMA, or German equivalent (IHK Bilanzbuchhalter or WP)

Base salary

€75,000–€90,000 depending on experience
