About the Job

The European Accounting Center of Excellence (CoE) is a dynamic and collaborative organization supporting Woodward businesses across Europe and the Middle East. Comprising a team of over 50 skilled accounting professionals, the CoE delivers expertise in transactional, operational, general, and local accounting services. The team operates within a distributed structure, based primarily in Poland with additional hubs in Germany, Bulgaria, and the United Kingdom.

What You Will Do

Lead and manage a General Accounting team of six or more finance professionals across multiple locations, promoting a culture of continuous improvement, professional development, and coaching.
Oversee the accurate and timely execution of journal entries, including ASC 606 revenue recognition, compliance with SOX controls, and other financial reporting requirements to ensure precision and regulatory adherence.
Supervise the completion of account reconciliations to maintain financial integrity and compliance with internal control guidelines.
Ensure proper documentation of financial processes while driving the development and implementation of standardized operational procedures to optimize workflows.
Monitor key operational metrics, identify opportunities for improvement, and implement strategies to enhance efficiency and effectiveness in general accounting operations.
Provide leadership and support for the implementation of SAP HANA and other system solutions, such as Tagetik, to modernize and improve financial systems and processes.
Collaborate as a financial advisor to non-finance leaders, delivering actionable insights and effectively influencing decision-making across diverse business units.

What You Will Need

10 years of accounting experience, including a minimum of 5 years in General Ledger/General Accounting and a minimum of 2 years in a managerial role.
Strong technical knowledge of US GAAP, SOX compliance, SAP; experience with Tagetik or similar tools is a plus.
Fluency in English, Polish and/or German – preferred.
Master’s degree in Accounting/Finance; ACCA or equivalent certification – preferred.
Strong leadership, problem-solving, and communication skills, with the ability to manage cross-border teams.
Willingness to travel between Poland (majority of team presence) and Germany (largest business and team members presence).
