Overview

Your mission: At north.io, we operate a modern, digital finance environment. As an Accounting & Payroll Specialist (F/M/D), you will take ownership of operational finance processes, including accounting, payroll preparation, and system-driven workflows. You will work closely with the CFO and the People & Culture Lead, ensuring accurate data, smooth processes, and timely reporting. Objectives of this Role

  • Ensure accurate and timely execution of preparatory accounting and payroll processes.
  • Collaborate with the CFO and P&C Lead on monthly payroll and finance operations.
  • Support and continuously improve operational finance workflows and reporting structures including ongoing development of cost center and management reporting.

Key Responsibilities

  • Execute preparatory accounting tasks, including accounts payable and receivable
  • Manage invoice processing and data preparation for our external tax advisor (DATEV)
  • Conduct monthly preparatory payroll activities in Personio in close alignment with the People & Culture Lead
  • Coordinate and validate all payroll-relevant data such as working hours, contractual and personnel changes
  • Support management reporting & continuous finance processes improvement

Your profile

Required:

  • Independent and hands-on working style.
  • Strong communication skills
  • Qualification in accounting, payroll, or finance or equivalent experience in one or more of the following areas:
  • Accounting processes (AP/AR, bank, reconciliations)
  • Payroll processing, ideally using Personio
  • Excel skills including pivot tables, lookup functions and data transformation.
  • High degree of system affinity and readiness to work with digital tools.

Preferred:

  • Experience with tools such as DATEV, Agicap, Circula, TravelPerk, Helu, or similar systems.
  • Experience in digital finance environments or startups.
