Accounts Payable Accountant

Our client is a well-established international engineering and construction business delivering large-scale turnkey projects across sectors including food, pharmaceuticals, logistics, high-tech manufacturing and data centres. Due to continued growth across Europe, they are looking to appoint an Accounts Payable Accountant to join their Finance team in Frankfurt.

The Role

Reporting to the Financial Director, you will take ownership of the Accounts Payable function, ensuring accurate processing of supplier and subcontractor invoices while supporting wider finance operations.

Key Responsibilities

• Ensuring accurate and timely processing of subcontractor and supplier invoices
• Identifying opportunities to improve and automate Accounts Payable processes
• Reconciling supplier, client and balance sheet accounts
• Handling supplier, customer and internal finance queries
• Resolving aged debit and credit balances
• Processing credit card and employee expense transactions
• Supporting ERP implementation projects including user acceptance testing
• Working closely with Commercial and Procurement teams to resolve invoice queries and ensure timely payments
• Preparing monthly VAT returns
• Ensuring proper approval and authorisation of invoices and payments

Candidate Profile

• Degree in Accounting, Finance or related discipline (or equivalent qualification)
• Previous experience within Accounts Payable or finance
• Knowledge of HGB; IFRS knowledge advantageous
• Experience within project-based or construction-related businesses desirable
• Strong ERP and Excel skills
• High attention to detail and strong numerical ability
• Strong communication skills and ability to liaise across departments
• Fluent English (written and spoken)
