Huawei's Munich Research Center is responsible for advanced technology research, architectural development, design and strategic engineering of our products. The Audiovisual Technology Lab is developing innovative technologies on media sensing, processing, and coding, and computer graphics. You will contribute to these activities as part of an international and experienced team of researchers.

Team successfully contributed to the international JPEG AI standard development. We now extend our experience in AI coding to video, implementing and optimizing AI‑based codecs for different platforms and devices. We are very excited to see how the results of cutting‑edge research start working on smartphones.

Your mission

• AI based image and video coding algorithm implementation and optimization for various platforms
• JPEG AI encoder and decoder software maintenance
• Research and development of new AI‑based algorithms for image / video coding and processing

Your areas of expertise

• Understanding of image and video compression and testing methodology
• Proven coding skills, including C (preferable) / C++ and Python
• Familiarity with Pytorch, ONNX, TensorFlow or TensorRT
• Familiarity with ffmpeg, CompressAI
• Fluent in English (written and spoken)
