Application Engineer - Global Application Expert (m/f/x)

As an application engineer in the Global Application Experts team, you will be responsible for dimensional coordinate measurement technology with our latest tactile and optical multi-sensor systems and apply them in our highest complexity customer applications.

Your Role

• You will create application solutions for strategic fields as well as for selected customer projects worldwide with the software packages ZEISS CALYPSO and ZEISS INSPECT, solving challenging metrology tasks from technical drawings and beyond GD&T.

• With a deep understanding of our technology and the customer’s application you will achieve solutions with the highest level of accuracy and repeatability, verified by statistical methods like GR&R or VDA5.

• Using integrated as well as external script languages you tailor the solutions to the customers' environment, be it for automation purposes or for parametric part inspection, dynamically calculating the workpiece geometry based on geometric definitions (vector calculation/coordinate transformations).

• Together with our strategic customer segments you will work closely with international teammates, customer segment managers and development departments to identify and create metrology solutions in the fields of aviation, electronics, electromobility, energy and medical technology.

• As a Global Application Expert, you will play a role model for the international ZEISS engineering community, consult them on advanced metrology topics and share your expertise in workshops.

Your Profile

• Degree in Engineering (i.e. Master of Science, Dipl. Ing, Ph.D.)

• Substantial experience in mechanical engineering applications and/or measuring technology

• Excellent analytical skills to understand and model complex relationships in customer applications: Manufacturing processes, Measurement process, GD&T definitions and 3D geometry relations (trigonometry and vector calculations).

• Motivation to work in an international multicultural environment and availability to travel world-wide up to 50% of time.

• Experience in statistical data evaluation and FFT frequency analysis

• Good command of spoken and written German and English
