Position: Applied AI Engineer (f/m/d)

Location: Berlin, Germany (Hybrid – 2 days per week)

Start date: Q1 2026

Role overview

The position focuses on building and scaling automated translation capabilities, fine-tuning language models, and developing engineering pipelines that can be applied across multiple markets. It requires a strong software engineering background with an emphasis on Python, infrastructure as code, CI/CD, and applied machine learning. The role will also support early recommender-system features for the core market, later scaling these to further regions and customising content to various culture backgrounds.

How you will spend your time

Implement and optimise automated translation workflows integrated with the CMS
Fine-tune existing ML models for market-specific performance
Build engineering pipelines that are reliable, reusable, and easily scalable
Contribute to recommendation-system capabilities that will later roll out globally
Ensure infrastructure is robust, maintainable, and aligned with Terraform-based deployment
Participate in sprint planning and collaborate closely with Data, AI, and CMS stakeholders

What you should bring to the table

Strong Python engineering skills
Experience with Terraform and CI/CD pipelines
Understanding of machine-learning concepts and experience fine-tuning models
Ability to design and maintain scalable pipelines and generalisable engineering solutions
Degree in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent experience
Fluency in English; German is an advantage
