leon-nanodrugs GmbH (LEON) is a Germany-based pharmatech company developing innovative equipment for the encapsulation of genetic materials and active substances into nanoparticles. Based on its proprietary FR-JET® Technology, LEON systems - NANOscreen®, NANOlab®, NANOme® and NANOus® support the full journey from formulation screening and process development to GMP aseptic manufacturing. As a Business Development Manager, you will drive customer acquisition, strengthen industry partnerships, and translate market insights into actionable internal strategies. This role is an excellent opportunity for professionals who want to blend scientific knowledge with commercial strategy while shaping the growth of a cutting‑edge biotech company.
Responsibilities
Customer Engagement & Relation Building
- Develop and maintain relationships with customers across pharma, biotech, CDMOs, and academic institutions.
- Lead and participate in customer meetings, presentations, and technical briefings.
- Capture and communicate customer insights to internal teams to guide product development and business strategy.
- Drive international lead generation in collaboration with LEON’s sales partners.
- Manage CRM and database tools to ensure a data‑driven approach to pipeline and opportunity management.
- Apply analytical and structured thinking to balance technical and commercial execution.
Technical & Market Expertise
- Build deep expertise in nanoparticle manufacturing science and technologies to effectively address customer inquiries.
- Integrate Business Intelligence into territory and account plans to support strategic decision‑making.
- Conduct market and competitive analyses to inform business strategy.
Events, Documentation & Internal Collaboration
- Plan and participate in exhibitions, trade shows, and conferences to promote the company’s capabilities and strengthen industry relationships.
- Support preparation of contractual agreements and business development documentation, including presentations and slide decks, to support client engagement and internal decision‑making.
- Collaborate closely with internal teams to ensure alignment on customer needs, business priorities, and strategic initiatives.
Must-have Qualifications/Experience
- Master’s degree (or Bachelor’s with relevant experience) in life sciences, biotechnology, chemistry, biomedical engineering, business administration, or a related field.
- Proven experience in business development, sales, or customer‑facing roles within biotech or pharma.
- Excellent verbal, written, and presentation skills.
- Business‑fluent English (spoken and written); German is a plus.
- Solid proficiency in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and familiarity with AI tools.
- Willingness to travel internationally for exhibitions, conferences, and customer/partner visits.
It is an advantage if you have
- Basic understanding of drug delivery technologies, nanoparticle science, and a strong willingness to learn quickly.
- Knowledge of bioprocess technologies, especially nanoformulation, TFF and IVT.
