Category Manager Forest & Grass Care

and take ownership of product strategy, pricing and assortment.

What is your role?

You develop a category plan in line with company strategy, select assortment based on market trends and customer data, implement tiered branding where needed to cover most customer needs and preferences, set competitive prices, and propose promotional activities. Data analysis is crucial in this role, as it informs product selection, pricing strategies, and promotional activities, ensuring the category's success.

Your key responsibilities include :

  • build and manage a strong category plan, aligned with the company strategy
  • optimize product lifecycle and ensure competitive positioning
  • execute market research and use date to identify trends and turn them into opportunities
  • develop straightforward business cases or lead feasibility and assessment work for proposed and current projects
  • manage commercial results by analysing customer and market trends, monitoring financial results, adjusting plan as necessary, and optimizing use of resources
  • engage with stakeholders effectively
  • contribute to reviewing costs, generate ideas for cost reduction, and contribute to the implementation of cost saving initiatives
  • monitor compliance of external partners to meet required standards and regulatory obligations.

Your team

You will report to the Head of Forest & Grass Care. In the team you will work as a tandem with the Category Buyer, to co-create and deliver Category Strategy & Plans, including Supplier (Portfolio) Strategy & Plans. The day-to-day execution of category and buying tasks is done by Category Specialists and Supplier Specialists.

Who are you?

As far as location is concerned : we prefer a candidate who lives not too far away from Varsseveld, since most of the team and important stakeholders work in our HQ in Varsseveld. The Strullendorf area is also fine, as some team members work at the office there. Following our hybrid work policy of 2-3 office days per week.

Professional Experience

  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent level of work experience
  • At least 3 years of experience in a similar role with strong stakeholder and commercial skills
  • Technical knowledge about how the machines are built is needed.
