For permanent employment OHB System AG in Bremen is looking for a Communications Engineer – Digital Payload Development for Satellites (m/w/d)
Your Tasks
- Develop a digital payload for an innovative satellite constellation
- Design and implement signal processing and communication systems for space applications
- Integrate and design beamforming antennas and their control systems (DRA)
- Develop and optimise onboard processors for digital signal processing with high datarates
- FPGA design for high‑performance signal processing applications
- Perform complex link budget calculations for satellite constellations
- Support in creating comprehensive offers
- Creation of unit/payload and test specifications
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to ensure system requirements and interfaces are met
Your Qualifications
- Degree in Communications Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field
- General communications engineering and satellite communications
- Antenna technology, especially beamforming
- High‑ and extremely high‑frequency technology (HF / SHF)
- Onboard processors and digital signal processing
- Possibly FPGA design (e.g., VHDL, Verilog, high‑level synthesis)
- MATLAB for simulation and signal processing
- Tools such as STK (Systems Tool Kit) and Satsoft for system analysis and antenna design
- Familiarity with communication standards such as DVB‑S2, 5G, and European Waveform
- Experience in complex link budget calculations for satellite constellations
- Strong interest in communications engineering and its applications in space
- Experience in developing complex communication systems, ideally in aerospace
- Analytical thinking, team spirit, and a structured work approach
- Very good knowledge of MS Office tools
- Basic knowledge of the German language would be desirable
