Control Engineer (m/f/d) – Modeling & Control of Fluid, Magnetic and Motor-Driven Systems

Responsibilities

• Own end‑to‑end control problems: building usable models, designing robust control structures, validating performance with meaningful tests, and collaborating with embedded/software engineers to prepare controllers for real‑world execution.
• Build dynamic models for actuators and subsystems (valves, pumps, magnetic/mechanical actuators) with the appropriate fidelity for controller design and validation.
• Incorporate real‑world non‑idealities into models: friction (stiction, stick‑slip, Stribeck), dead‑zones, hysteresis, saturation, rate limits, delays, sensor noise, and quantization.
• Support parameter identification and model tuning from measurement data.
• Design and analyze control loops for servo systems (speed, position, force, pressure depending on subsystem).
• Develop practical control structures: cascaded loops, feedforward paths, anti‑windup, set‑point shaping, filtering, and observers where appropriate.
• Think in robustness: stability margins, parameter drift, varying loads (e.g., pressure‑dependent torques), and failure modes.
• Define meaningful test scenarios and success criteria (tracking, reversals near zero, load steps, noise sensitivity, limits).

Must Have Skills

• Strong foundation in control theory and dynamic systems (mathematical reasoning, not just intuitive tuning).
• MATLAB/Simulink proficiency (required).
• Experience with servo/control problems involving nonlinearities (friction, saturation, dead‑zones, hysteresis).
• Ability to transfer knowledge across domains (e.g., motor control to fluid/mechatronic actuators).
