We are a German non-profit organization that actively contributes to CO₂ mitigation by developing, financing, and promoting climate projects in more than 20 countries worldwide. Our growing offices in Berlin and Barcelona with currently 50 employees, as well as the country managers and subsidiaries, among others, in Europe, Asia and Africa, form the basis for successful climate protection.

For this role, you will be part of a cross-border team, working closely with colleagues in Berlin and Nigeria. You will help build reliable structures that support our clean energy projects and ensure that atmosfair remains a trusted partner for climate protection worldwide.
About the Role
You will work at the intersection between the Berlin finance team and our Nigerian subsidiary. This role combines controlling and accounting responsibilities in equal measure, with clear accountability for financial statements, budget control, and compliance oversight.
Your mission
Controlling & Accounting (50%)
- Monitor budgets, cost centres, and project expenditures to ensure proper financial control.
- Support ERP system implementation and drive continuous improvement in financial processes.
- Coordinate with stakeholders such as banks and regulatory bodies.
- Train and support staff in Nigeria on accounting procedures and controls.
- Participate in cross-border financial planning, cash flow forecasting, and budget control.
- Act as an independent contact point for compliance-related matters within the finance and project teams.
- Support the development and enforcement of internal approval structures, compliance checks, and transparent documentation practices.
Bookkeeping & Reporting (50%)
- Oversee bookkeeping of the Nigerian subsidiary and atmosfair Germany in line with German accounting standards.
- Prepare, review, and reconcile accounts and liaise with Berlin colleagues and service providers to ensure seamless integration.
- Assist in preparing consolidated financial reports and management updates.
Your profile
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or related field.
- 3–5 years of relevant work experience in accounting, controlling, or financial management.
- Proficiency with accounting system/ software (e.g. Sage) or ERP systems and advanced Microsoft Office tools especially Excel.
- Proven track record in budgeting, cost control, working capital management, and financial reporting.
- Experience with financial audits, compliance, and donor-funded project reporting is desirable.
- Strong communication and coordination skills, ideally gained in an international or emerging market context.
