About Dizi
Dizi is an exciting new startup building a fun, interactive social app where users share dilemmas and get real-time crowd-sourced advice through polls, votes, and comments. Think of it as a mix of polling apps and social networks, with features like image uploads, user profiles, streaks, trending topics in categories like fashion, food, life, and relationships, plus a shop for in-app purchases using karma points. We're pre-funding and bootstrapping, so this is a chance to join at the ground level and help shape a product that could go viral
We're looking for passionate developers who want hands-on experience to boost their CV, GitHub portfolio, and skills in a real-world startup environment.
Role Overview
We're seeking a part-time Cross-Platform Mobile Developer to implement our app's UI/UX designs into a fully functional mobile app for both iOS and Android using Flutter or React Native. This is an equity-based role (no salary at this stage, but potential for future compensation as we grow), ideal for computer science or engineering students looking to gain practical experience. You'll work closely with a backend developer to integrate APIs and bring the app to life, with milestones tracked via tools like GitHub and Jira.
Key Responsibilities
Translate provided UI designs (Figma-like mocks) into responsive, pixel-perfect interfaces using Flutter or React Native.
Implement core features including poll creation/voting, real-time vote updates, comment sections, image uploads, user authentication, profiles, streaks, and navigation (home, search, upload, profile, shop).
Handle in-app purchases integration (Google Play Billing and Apple In-App Purchases) for karma points and shop items.
Ensure cross-platform compatibility, performance optimization, and smooth animations/UX.
Collaborate with the backend developer on API integration (REST/GraphQL), real-time features (e.g., via WebSockets or Firebase), and testing.
Use GitHub for version control, commit regularly, and contribute to a clean, maintainable codebase.
Participate in weekly check-ins for progress updates and feedback.
Required Skills and Qualifications
Current student in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field (undergrad or grad level).
Proficiency in Flutter or React Native (at least one; experience with both is a plus).
Familiarity with mobile app development basics: state management (e.g., Provider, Redux), UI components, navigation (e.g., Navigator, Router), and handling asynchronous operations.
Experience with integrations like Firebase (for auth, real-time database, storage) or similar services.
Basic knowledge of API consumption (REST/GraphQL), push notifications, and image handling (e.g., via packages like image_picker).
Understanding of app store guidelines and deployment processes for Google Play and App Store.
Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and ability to work independently on a part-time basis hours/week).
Bonus: Experience with social/polling apps, animations (e.g., Flare/Rive), or testing frameworks (e.g., Flutter Test or Jest).
