Data Center Manager, Operations, IT, & Support Engineering

Overview

Amazon Web Services (AWS) is growing rapidly, and we are looking for a Data Center Operations Manager to join our expanding Infrastructure Operations team in one of our sites in Frankfurt.

AWS Infrastructure Services owns the design, planning, delivery, and operation of all AWS global infrastructure. We support all AWS data centers and all of the servers, storage, networking, power, and cooling equipment that ensure our customers have continuous access to the innovation they rely on. We work on the most challenging problems, with thousands of variables impacting the supply chain and are looking for talented people who want to help.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and supervise a team of Data Center Technicians who install, maintain, and decommission network and server hardware.
• Oversee the safety, security, availability, quality, and performance of the team, while driving a positive customer experience.
• Strategic planning and forecasting; manage team and individual performance; deliver performance reviews and address staffing needs.
• Carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and procedures.
• Mentor, train and develop career progression for direct reports and members of the organization.
• Obsess over team learning and development, both from a technical/functional and soft skills (critical thinking, emotional intelligence, and adaptability) development perspective.
• Coordinate support of change management resources in partnership with electrical and mechanical operations teams.
• Develop, improve, and share operational best practices across the region and with peers globally.

Basic Qualifications

• 4+ years of experience in Data Center Operations or similar roles.
• 3+ years building strong, successful technical teams in a similar culture.
• Team, organizational and planning skills, and stringent time management skills to balance workloads in a complex and dynamic environment.

Preferred Qualifications

• 3+ years of cumulative experience with IT infrastructure domains such as compute server platforms, storage server platforms, server components, network devices, cabling best practices, and IT service delivery principles and best practices.
• Understanding of critical Electrical, HVAC and control systems.
• Appropriate Security and Safety awareness.
• Project Management Experience.
• Capacity planning and budgetary experience.
