Data Center System Engineer - (Full-Time)

The Data Center System Engineer will be responsible for the maintenance, deployment, and optimization of critical IT infrastructure within our state-of-the-art data center facilities. This hands-on role ensures maximum uptime, performance, and scalability of server, storage, and network systems in a 24/7/365 operational environment.

Note: Candidate must have prior mandatory onsite work experience in the EU, UK or USA.

Key Responsibilities

1. Physical Infrastructure Management

• Perform installation, cabling, powering, and decommissioning (IMACD) of servers, storage, and network equipment.
• Execute structured copper and fiber cabling, including testing, labeling, and troubleshooting (Layer 1/2).
• Maintain accurate asset and capacity records using Data Center Infrastructure Management (DCIM) tools.

2. Systems Operations & Maintenance

• Install, configure, and maintain operating systems (Linux, Windows Server) and hypervisors (VMware, Hyper‑V, KVM).
• Monitor and troubleshoot hardware, firmware, and system‑level performance issues.
• Manage out‑of‑band management tools (iLO, iDRAC, BMC) and perform firmware upgrades and patching.

3. Capacity & Efficiency

• Assist in planning and optimizing data center capacity (power, cooling, space, network).
• Support physical layout efficiency, hot/cold aisle containment, and electrical safety compliance (NEN3140 preferred).

4. Incident & Change Management

• Respond to and resolve incidents, requests, and alerts using ITSM systems (ServiceNow, Jira).
• Implement approved changes following Change Management policies and documentation standards.

5. Automation & Continuous Improvement

• Identify opportunities to automate manual or repetitive operational tasks using scripting languages (Python, Bash).
• Contribute to improving operational processes and reliability through proactive monitoring and documentation.

Qualifications & Skills

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field (or equivalent experience).
• 4‑8 years of experience in system engineering, data center operations, or IT infrastructure.
• Strong understanding of Linux and Windows system administration.
• Experience with virtualization technologies (VMware, Hyper‑V, KVM).
• Familiarity with DCIM tools, cabling standards, and network fundamentals (TCP/IP, VLANs).
• Knowledge of backup, monitoring, and automation tools.
• Scripting experience with Python, PowerShell, or Bash.
• Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and documentation skills.

Preferred Certifications

• VMware VCP, Microsoft Certified: Systems Engineer (MCSE), CompTIA Server+, or Cisco CCNA.
• ITIL Foundation or similar IT service management certification.
