Data Engineer (m/f/d)

Position Overview

As a Data Engineer at FrontWell Solutions, you will design, develop, and maintain robust data platforms and solutions using Azure cloud technologies—with a strong focus on Azure Databricks. Your work will enable data-driven decision-making, digital transformation, and operational excellence for our clients.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, implement, and optimize Azure-based data architectures for robust, scalable analytics and processing.
• Build, maintain, and orchestrate modern ETL data pipelines using Azure Data Factory, Azure Databricks, Delta Lake, and related Azure services.
• Model data warehouses using star schema and other industry standards; design analytics repositories and lakehouses.
• Develop robust solutions in Databricks (Delta Live Tables, Workflows, SQL Warehouse) and manage ADLS Gen2 environments.
• Write, optimize, and manage complex SQL and Python (or PySpark) code for data transformation and analysis.
• Integrate REST APIs and transform data into structures tailored to business needs.
• Monitor, troubleshoot, and optimize the performance, security, and reliability of data pipelines and workflows (including Azure Key Vault, RBAC, CI/CD pipeline automation).
• Ensure data quality, documentation, governance, and compliance with company policies and industry regulations.
• Collaborate across teams accessing systems like SAP BW to deliver high-value data integration projects.

What You Have to Offer

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
• Minimum 3 years of professional experience building scalable data solutions and pipelines using Azure (Data Factory, Databricks, Delta Lake, Synapse Analytics, and related data services).
• Proficiency in SQL, Python, and experience with star schema data modelling. Hands-on with big data tools like Databricks and Spark.
• Solid understanding of data warehousing concepts, ETL/ELT processes, and cloud-first architectures.
• Experience with infrastructure as code (such as Terraform or ARM/Bicep) and CI/CD for data platforms.
• Strong problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills.
• At least B1-level German (written and spoken) and business proficiency in English.
• Willingness to travel (within Germany or internationally) as needed.
• Experience in the life sciences industry is an advantage.
• Legal eligibility to work in Germany is required.
