Tesla

Data Engineer, Manufacturing (m/f/d) - Gigafactory Berlin-Brandenburg

Stellenbeschreibung:

What To Expect

Tesla is looking for a talented and motivated Data Engineer to join our Data and Analytics team at Giga Berlin. We are building a state‑of‑the‑art analytics platform for business and operational intelligence. At Tesla, we have enormous amounts of data, and we want to give meaning to it, to help business users make data‑driven decisions. Our platform allows users to answer "what", "when" and "how" questions, as well as ask, "what if". In this role you will design, develop, maintain and support our Enterprise Data Warehouse and BI platform. This position offers a unique opportunity to make a significant impact on the entire organization by championing a data‑driven culture.

What You'll Do

  • Develop and maintain scalable data pipelines using Apache Airflow, orchestrating workflows across ClickHouse, Vertica and other datalake solutions, and distributed big data platforms (e.g., Spark, Kafka) for efficient, low‑latency data ingestion and transformation.
  • Lead the analysis, design, and development of Enterprise Data Warehouse solutions and data marts, delivering high‑quality, business‑aligned results in fast‑paced environments using Agile methodologies.
  • Design, engineer, and optimize enterprise‑grade data warehouse and BI platforms leveraging modern tools (e.g., ClickHouse, Apache Airflow, Tableau, Power BI) to enable scalable analytics and reporting.
  • Collaborate with business sponsors and cross‑functional teams to gather requirements, resolve technical challenges, and align solutions with organisational goals.
  • Champion company standards and compliance by enforcing methodologies, quality assurance practices, and documentation frameworks across data engineering workflows.
  • Participate in design and code reviews to ensure robust, maintainable, and high‑performance solutions aligned with best practices.
  • Own deployment and release processes using CI/CD tools to automate workflows and ensure reliable, continuous delivery.
  • Stay current with emerging technologies (e.g., Agentic AI, LLMs, distributed systems) and advocate for their strategic adoption where applicable.

What You'll Bring

  • Proven experience building and maintaining scalable data pipelines using Python, Apache Airflow, and distributed orchestration frameworks.
  • Hands‑on experience designing Data Marts, Enterprise Data Warehouses (EDWs), and database objects across relational databases (e.g., MySQL, SQL Server), MPP systems (e.g., ClickHouse), and data lake architectures (e.g., Delta Lake, Iceberg).
  • Expert‑level SQL proficiency, including optimising complex queries for performance in distributed environments (e.g., ClickHouse, Spark SQL).
  • Strong problem‑solving skills with a track record of resolving bottlenecks in large‑scale data systems and real‑time pipelines.
  • Excellent communication skills to translate technical concepts to business stakeholders and collaborate with cross‑functional teams.
  • Ability to thrive in fast‑paced environments, delivering high‑quality solutions under tight deadlines while adhering to Agile/Scrum practices.
  • Demonstrated experience designing high‑impact dashboards and reports for executive stakeholders using modern BI tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI, Superset).

Preferred Skills

  • Experience building ETL/ELT pipelines for ClickHouse.
  • Proficiency in Python (preferred) or Java for scalable data engineering solutions.
  • Working with a system at scale and with Docker, Kubernetes, Jenkins or similar CI/CD tools is preferred.
  • Hands‑on with BI tools (Tableau, Power BI) for executive dashboards.
  • Knowledge of distributed computing (Spark, Flink, Presto) and Big Data ecosystems (Hadoop, Hive, Kafka).
  • Exposure to Agentic AI or LLM-driven automation in data workflows.

What we offer

You will be working in our state‑of‑the‑art Gigafactory, where you’ll solve the world’s most interesting problems with the best and brightest people who share a passion to change the world. Tesla’s compensation package includes competitive salary and Tesla shares or bonuses. Typical benefits that are offered are a pension program, 30 vacation days, flexible work arrangements, corporate benefits, employee insurances, relocation, and commuting support.
