Data Science Lead

We are supporting a fast‑growing energy‑tech company in Munich that is hiring a Head of Data Science – ideal for someone who started hands‑on in Data Science and then grew into a leadership role within a startup or scale‑up environment.

You’ll lead and scale a high‑impact DS/ML team (8 → ~17 FTEs), drive algorithm development for real‑time optimisation of distributed energy assets, and shape the long‑term data strategy.

The engineering culture is strong, fast‑paced and product‑oriented – supported by tech leadership with previous experience at Tesla .

What you’ll do

• Lead, mentor and scale a Data Science & ML Engineering team
• Develop and deploy production‑grade ML models (forecasting, optimisation, control systems)
• Set and evolve the algorithmic roadmap and Data Science strategy
• Balance exploration with delivery in a startup‑style, fast‑iteration environment
• Ensure high standards in modelling, research methods and code quality
• Collaborate closely with product, software engineering and domain experts

What you bring

• Experience as a Data Science Lead / Manager in a startup or scale‑up
• Proven success in building or scaling DS/ML teams
• 8+ years in Data Science, including 4+ years in leadership
• Degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Physics or similar
• Energy domain experience is a plus, not required
