Design Coordinator / Structural

BenBau is an international construction company with Irish roots that specializes in concrete and data center construction works in Germany, Denmark and Sweden. We are currently searching for an experienced Design Manager with relevant experience in design, especially for concrete works, to join our team in Berlin, Germany.

Job Title: Structural Design Coordinator

Location: Berlin - Germany

In this role, you will be responsible for managing design activities and ensuring that all aspects of the project are completed on time and within budget.

You must be highly organized and detail‑oriented, with a deep knowledge of structural engineering principles and practices. You must also be a strong communicator, able to work closely with other departments.

Job Summary

The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing the design process, ensuring structural integrity, and coordinating with project managers and clients to deliver high‑quality designs on time and within budget.

Key Responsibilities

• Coordinating teams of structural engineers and designers, fostering a collaborative and innovative environment.
• Overseeing multiple projects simultaneously, ensuring design solutions meet client requirements and adhere to safety and regulatory standards.
• Performing design reviews, design drawings, and specifications to ensure accuracy and compliance with relevant codes and standards.
• Coordinating with architects, construction managers, and other stakeholders to integrate structural designs into overall project plans.
• Implementing and maintaining the quality control processes to ensure the highest standards of design are achieved.
• Monitoring the project budgets, manage resources effectively, and identify cost‑saving opportunities without compromising quality.
• Serving as the primary point of contact for clients during the design phase, addressing concerns, providing updates, and ensuring satisfaction.
• Ensuring all designs comply with relevant building codes, regulations, and safety standards.
• Overseeing the preparation, organization, and submission of all project‑related documentation, including design reports, structural calculations, technical specifications, and construction drawings.
• Collaborating with various departments (e.g., engineering, architecture, construction) to gather and integrate necessary information into comprehensive project documentation.
• Reviewing and approving all design‑related documents before submission to clients, contractors, or regulatory bodies, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and adherence to project scope.
• Manage the timely submission of all project documentation and ensure that it is properly archived for future reference and audit purposes.
• Ensuring that all documentation deliverables meet client expectations and are delivered according to the agreed timeline.
• Performing structural calculations from time to time, if necessary.

Qualifications and Requirements

• Education: Bachelor’s degree in Structural Engineering, Civil Engineering or a related field.
• Experience: Minimum of 5 years of experience in structural design, with at least 1-3 years in a managerial or leadership role.

• Technical Skills: Proficiency in structural design and familiarity with BIM, including BIM software (Revit, NavisWorks, Autodesk platforms).
• Leadership: Proven ability to lead and inspire a team, with strong decision‑making and problem‑solving skills.
• Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to present complex information clearly and effectively to both technical and non‑technical audiences.
• Attention to Detail: Strong focus on accuracy and quality, with the ability to proactively identify and address potential design issues.
• Time Management: Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines effectively in a fast‑paced environment.
• Languages: Fluent in English, both written and spoken. Additional language skills would be an advantage (German, Polish, Romanian, Swedish, etc.).
