We have been exclusively assigned by a fast-growing services business who are looking to recruit a very exciting opportunity for a highly experienced and results-driven Director of Financial Reporting, Accounting/Audit. The role is to lead all aspects of statutory accounting, financial reporting, and audit coordination for the German entities. The successful candidate will ensure full compliance with German Commercial Code (HGB), International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS), and internal policies. This leadership role is critical in delivering accurate financial statements, maintaining a strong control environment, and supporting strategic decision-making through high-quality financial data.

Responsibilities:

• Ensure timely and accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual closes in compliance with HGB and IFRS.
• Maintain and continuously improve the Chart of Accounts, accounting policies, and procedures.
• Monitor and manage intercompany transactions, transfer pricing, and reconciliation processes.
• Lead the preparation of local statutory financial statements under HGB and group reporting packages under IFRS.
• Coordinate group consolidation inputs and liaise with headquarters on reporting requirements and deadlines.
• Ensure high standards of financial data quality, transparency, and compliance.
• Act as the primary contact for external auditors and manage the entire audit process (statutory and group).
• Prepare audit schedules, support audit requests, and ensure timely resolution of audit findings.
• Implement recommendations from internal and external audits to strengthen financial controls and processes.
• Support strategic projects such as M&A, legal restructuring, and new entity onboarding
• Foster a culture of excellence, accountability, and continuous improvement.

Profile of candidate

Bachelor’s or master’s degree in accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field
Professional certification preferred: Wirtschaftsprüfer, Steuerberater, CPA, ACCA, or equivalent.
Progressive experience in financial accounting, reporting, and audit.
Solid technical expertise in HGB, IFRS, and German tax law.
Audit experience from a Big Four or similar environment is highly advantageous.
Strong track record in audit management and reporting in complex environments (e.g., international groups, scale-ups, PE-backed)
Must be fluent in German and English
