The Max Planck Institute for Solar System Research (MPS) in Göttingen is one of the world's leading research institutions in solar physics and planetary research, with around 300 employees. The interdisciplinary research focus is the investigation of the development, diversity and dynamics of planets, moons, small bodies, the sun and solar‑like stars. The MPS develops and operates scientific instruments for current and future space missions (e.g. ESA, NASA), and carries out cosmochemical laboratory investigations of meteorites as well as numerical modeling on state‑of‑the‑art supercomputers.

Position

Electronics / System Engineer (m/f/d)

Responsibilities

  • Implementation of a digital electronic device under development for spaceflight.
  • Planning and executing test campaigns for electronic devices.
  • Evaluation of test results and reporting (technical documentation preparation).
  • Technical coordination of the implementation of electronic devices.

Qualifications

  • High motivation, problem‑solving attitude, continuous learner, and team player.
  • University degree (Master's) in Electronic Engineering or equivalent.
  • Experience in space projects (ESA, NASA, etc.) desired.
  • Good knowledge of English (spoken and written).

Additional Information

  • The full‑time position can be filled starting June 1 2026, if funding is confirmed by the German Space Agency DLR. Employment is initially limited in time until March 31 2027, with a likely extension until December 31 2029.
  • Remuneration is according to the German public salary scale up to TVöD‑Bund E14.
  • Part‑time teleworking can be negotiated.
  • Social security benefits are in accordance with the public service regulations.
