Role Overview

Position: Olympiad Mathematics Expert – Short-term Contract, Remote
Commitment: 20-40 hours per week, ~2 months duration
Help push the boundaries of AI reasoning by training large language models to tackle Olympiad-level problems. Collaborate with a leading frontier AI research lab on an exciting math project.

Responsibilities

• Write novel & advanced Olympiad-style mathematics problems.
• Evaluate and dissect AI-generated solutions, identifying strengths and pinpointing weaknesses.
• Provide expert insights and commentary that directly shape the next generation of reasoning systems.
• Review and test AI-generated solutions for correctness and clarity.
• Identify logical flaws, incomplete reasoning, or insufficiently-rigorous proofs.
• Maintain extremely high standards of mathematical precision and problem difficulty.

Requirements / Qualifications

Must-Have Qualifications

• Problem writer, selection committee member, medalist, or participant in the International Mathematical Olympiad (IMO) or an equivalent international competition within the past ~10 years.
• Expertise across algebra, geometry, combinatorics, and number theory.
• Ability to clearly articulate complex reasoning in written form.
• Rigorous attention to detail in verifying solutions.
• Independent, reliable, and disciplined work style.

Engagement Details

Compensation:
Gold & Selection Committee Members: $85/hr
Silver & Bronze: $70/hr
Honorable Mention: $60/hr
Participants: $50/hr
Open to contributors worldwide (English proficiency required).
Independent contractor arrangement through Mercor.
Weekly payments via Stripe Connect.
Rolling start dates; setup typically within 1–2 days of approval.
