Ambu is currently looking for anExperienced R&D Engineer to join our Mechanical Design team . In this role, you will join a passionate team of engineers, all withdifferent backgrounds, collaborating to drive our continued product innovation.You can expect to use yourstrong designbackground to broaden your experience across the full development cycle, ensuring continued professional and technical development.

In this position, you willlikely thrivethe most if you naturally tend to take charge and support your colleagues. You may be a strong mechanical designer in your field, or a design lead, butregardlessyou will highly identify with our values of Taking Charge and Team Up. If you have experience in driving technical development, that will certainly help you succeed in this role.

The role is based atour Innovation Site in Augsburg, Germany.

Key responsibilities

In this role, you will be in a key position in the development of Ambu’s future products. You can therefore expect to:

  • Identifyuser needs, designinputsand specifications through participation in the project start-up phase where interaction with key opinion leaders, doctors and other experts worldwide is crucial to fulfil the ambitious innovation targets
  • Be a key influencer in significant development projects within Ambu, either through a mechanical design or lead role
  • Develop new, and further improve existing, mechanical design solutions of components and assemblies as well as optimization of existing designs for Ambu's extensive product portfolio within endoscopy, anesthesiology, and patient monitoring
  • Have the responsibility for the mechanical design and construction of functionalities, parts and assemblies including quality aspects for robust and safe medical products
  • Translate technology concepts into fully working prototypes ready for feasibility testing and process evaluation including documentation
  • Ensure that thecomponentor product is manufacturable in high volume, fulfils function and stays within defined cost framework
  • Ensure continually updated documentationin accordance withthe regulations from FDA and ISO certification including FMEA's, risk assessments and tolerance analyses
  • Trust cooperation with internal and external partners. You will work in international development teams from Germany, Denmark, and Malaysia as well as with external partners, users, physicians, and suppliers.

Ideally, you can assess manufacturability from a designer’s perspective and bring practical, hands‑on insights rather than purely academic approaches. Experience with micromanufacturing or integrating design for small metal and plastic parts will be considered an advantage. We welcome candidates withexpertisein microparts, andpreviousexperience with hearing aids or similar precision devices would be a strong plus.

  • Successfully completed a technical or scientific course of study, e.g.,mechanicalor medical engineering resulting in a broad technical understanding
  • Good strong knowledgeofworking with a CAD systeme.g.Inventor,Solidworks, Creo, Catia
  • Have some experience in product development and/or design of safety-critical products
  • Experience working with the development of Medical Devices is considered an advantage, however other highly regulated industries could also be relevant
  • Relevant experience in the design of mechanical and plastic components for high volumes from the fields of injection molding, extrusion, and tool design
  • Professional level of both written and spoken English
  • Strong teamand communication skills, initiative, and courage to take the technical lead in development project groups
