Summary

This position is located in Blue Ridge Parkway, in the Maintenance Division. This is a Career/Career-Conditional Full-time appointment. Major Duties

• Operate gas- or diesel‑powered engineering and construction equipment, such as road graders, tractors with bulldozer or angle dozer blades, front‑end loaders, backhoes, wheel loaders, trench diggers, and large industrial tractors with pan or scraper attachments.
• Operate equipment to push, pull, pile, excavate, backfill, grade, or level earth and/or refuse.
• Use equipment to perform functions such as cutting, moving, digging, grading, and rolling earth, sand, stone, and other materials to maintain ditches, road shoulders, and beds.
• Road maintenance including winter snow removal on mountain roads in winter storm conditions.

Duty locations for these vacancies are located in two Districts of the Blue Ridge Parkway. Roanoke Co, Virginia - The duty station is located on the Blue Ridge Parkway at the Vinton Maintenance Area, which is located in Roanoke Co, Virginia. Roanoke is a thriving urban area with more rural areas readily accessible. Floyd Co, Va - The duty station is located on the Blue Ridge Parkway at the Rocky Knob Maintenance Area in Floyd, Co, Va. Floyd is a very rural area with most major amenities being at least 30 minutes from duty station. Asheville, North Carolina - The duty station is located on the Blue Ridge Parkway at the Oteen Maintenance Area, which is located in Asheville, North Carolina. All goods and services are available in Asheville and the surrounding communities.
