Engineering Manager - Embedded Automation & Power Components (m/w/d)

The main task of the Engineering Manager Embedded Automation & Power Components is to lead the assigned engineering teams and to ensure a close link to all product lines and their activities. The portfolio of Embedded Automation & Power Component contains machine operation control devices, switches, HMIs, control relays, PLCs, Drives and products in the field of building automation. This team performs all product innovation and product maintenance engineering activities and contributes strongly to product line related vitality. This team also proves the technical feasibility of the product road maps. The incumbent needs to identify significant business opportunities to leverage those advances and drive the realization of those opportunities in order to drive growth within Embedded Automation & Power Components. These activities include communication and close collaboration with other Eaton entities and customers. The manager will be responsible for meeting the schedule, scope, cost and technical targets for all development efforts under his/her control, as well as developing and managing customer relationships with Eaton business leaders & stakeholders.

What You’ll Do

  • Managing responsibilities within the assigned team of leaders of people and engineers, developing and continuously improving organizational capabilities of the team.
  • Managing related activities and ensuring the alignment of their area with broader organizational initiatives and objectives.
  • Able to influence outcomes within broad policies.
  • Hosting engineering domain functions (embedded engineering, mechanical engineering, hardware, software, firmware, IIoT).
  • Defining technical feasibility of the product roadmap.
  • Gathering and analyzing innovation and technology needs.
  • Leading engineering projects and work package approvals to meet financial goals and growth targets.
  • Promoting and supporting continuous improvement of processes and innovations.
  • Deploying agile methods, requirement‑ and change‑management and assuring state‑of‑the‑art methods.
  • Collaborating close with the Eaton engineering departments also outside the division.
  • Business trips, temporary project work at international Eaton locations.
  • Driving results in the assigned team while creating and fostering a safe work environment and living the Eaton Business System.
  • Demonstrating Eaton’s values and philosophy with every action and every decision in combination of recognizing the value of different perspectives and culture for the Embedded Automation & Power Components-Engineering organization.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s / Master’s degree in electrical engineering / electronics / mechatronic / embedded software / automation engineering or similar qualification.
  • Strong work experience in Electric, Electronic and/or Automation sector in the industrial field.
  • Leadership experience in matrix organizations with multiple stakeholders and global locations and cultures.

Skills

  • Deep understanding in automation, electronic & software design.
  • Special know‑how of electronic design, firmware and cloud‑based software development.
  • Know‑how in web‑based application development, IIoT application development or visualization preferred.
  • Experience with DFSS.
  • Experience with process maturity models (SPICE or CMMi).
  • Experience with functional driven and architecture based development.
  • Experience with functional safety and cyber security.
  • Experience in collaboration with distributed (virtual) development teams at different locations.
  • Problem solving skills.
  • Fluent in English and German.
