The main task of the Engineering Manager Embedded Automation & Power Components is to lead the assigned engineering teams and to ensure a close link to all product lines and their activities. The portfolio includes machine operation control devices, switches, HMIs, control relays, PLCs, drives and products in the field of building automation. This team performs product innovation and maintenance engineering activities and contributes strong to product‑line vitality. The manager ensures technical feasibility of road‑maps, identifies significant business opportunities, drives growth, collaborates with other Eaton entities and customers, and delivers all development efforts to meet schedule, scope, cost, and technical targets.

What You’ll Do

  • Manage the team of leaders, people and engineers, developing and continuously improving organizational capabilities.
  • Align team activities with broader organizational initiatives and objectives.
  • Influence outcomes within broad policies.
  • Host engineering domain functions (embedded engineering, mechanical engineering, hardware, software, firmware, IIoT).
  • Define technical feasibility of the product roadmap.
  • Gather and analyze innovation and technology needs.
  • Lead engineering projects and work‑package approvals to meet financial goals and growth targets.
  • Promote continuous improvement of processes and innovations.
  • Deploy agile methods, requirement‑ and change‑management, and assure state‑of‑the‑art methods.
  • Collaborate closely with other Eaton engineering departments, both within and outside the division.
  • Attend business trips and temporary project work at international Eaton locations.
  • Drive results while creating a safe work environment and living the Eaton Business System.
  • Demonstrate Eaton’s values and philosophy, recognizing diverse perspectives and cultures.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s / Master’s degree in electrical engineering, electronics, mechatronics, embedded software, automation engineering, or a similar qualification.
  • Strong work experience in the electric, electronic and/or automation sector in the industrial field.
  • Leadership experience in matrix organizations with multiple stakeholders and global locations and cultures.

Skills

  • Deep understanding of automation, electronics, and software design.
  • Special know‑how in electronic design, firmware and cloud‑based software development.
  • Experience in web‑based application development, IIoT application development, or visualization.
  • Experience with DFSS.
  • Experience with process maturity models (SPICE or CMMi).
  • Experience with functional‑driven and architecture‑based development.
  • Experience with functional safety and cybersecurity.
  • Experience collaborating with distributed (“virtual”) development teams at different locations.
  • Problem‑solving skills.
  • Fluent in English and German.
