Job Summary

The Environmental Health and Safety Coordinator (PCQI) works within the plant to ensure compliance with facility environmental permits, regulations, company safety programs, FSMA, USDA, cGMPs, FDA, HACCP, and finished product requirements.

Key Responsibilities

Administer Darling Ingredients Safety program, ensuring compliance with all applicable laws and regulations.
Conduct OSHA safety training for new employees, and monthly and annual training for all employees.
Perform monthly safety facility audits, hold monthly safety meetings, investigate accidents, and advise management on corrective actions.
Train employees in environmental compliance, site inspections, sampling, log review, and report preparation.
Ensure compliance with SPCC, SWPP, cGMPs, HACCP, and FSMA reporting requirements.
Manage solid and hazardous waste, maintain lab equipment, perform testing on all finished products, and monitor lab supply inventory.
Verify finished products meet specifications before shipment and review all plant documentation related to finished product shipments.
Run internal audits, approve documents, address corrective actions, and ensure documentation completion and filing.
Perform any other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Minimum 1 year (2 years preferred) of experience in quality assurance, food production, agriculture, or a related field.
High School Diploma or equivalent required.
PCQI certification in human food or animal food, or become certified upon hire through Darling‑lead or an industry‑recognized FDA curriculum.
Bachelor’s degree in Safety and Environmental, Industrial Management, or related field is preferred.
Highly organized, superior time‑management skills, and exceptional communication (written and oral).
Self‑motivated, self‑starter, able to multi‑task, and works well in a team environment.
Good computer skills in Microsoft Office applications.

Physical Demands

Frequently required to walk, stand, sit, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crawl, and crouch. Occasionally lifts up to 25 lbs, pushes/pulls/moves up to 100 lbs, and reaches with hands and arms. Occasional overnight travel by personal vehicle or airplane.
