Field Technician (High-Voltage Electrical Systems)

We are seeking experienced Field Technicians with a strong background in high-voltage electrical systems, including transmission networks, switchgear, and substations.
You will be responsible for the installation, commissioning, testing, and maintenance of critical electrical infrastructure across Germany, supporting transmission and distribution projects for utilities, EPCs, and large-scale industrial clients.

This position offers hands-on technical work in a high-growth, safety-critical environment, ensuring all activities meet German standards (VDE, DIN, DGUV Vorschrift 3) and internal company requirements.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform installation, maintenance, inspection, and repair of electrical equipment in medium and high-voltage (Mittelspannung/Hochspannung) systems up to 110kV and above.
• Conduct fault-finding, isolation, and rectification on substations, switchgear, transformers, and protection systems.
• Support commissioning and testing activities, including protection relay verification, SCADA integration, and control system validation.
• Carry out switching operations and issue or receive permits under established safety procedures.
• Prepare technical documentation, including test reports, risk assessments, and maintenance records.
• Collaborate with project engineers, site managers, and client representatives to ensure efficient project delivery.
• Ensure strict adherence to health, safety, and environmental standards, including DGUV, VDE 0105, and company safety protocols.
• Participate in on-call duties and emergency fault response when required.

Qualifications & Experience

• Completed technical apprenticeship or degree in Electrical Engineering (e.g. Elektroniker für Betriebstechnik, Elektrotechniker, or equivalent).
• Proven experience in substation and switchgear maintenance, transmission or distribution systems, and high-voltage installations.
• Strong understanding of protection and control systems, testing, and commissioning procedures.
• Knowledge of German electrical standards (VDE/DIN) and DGUV safety regulations.
• Authorised to perform switching operations (e.g. Schaltberechtigung up to 110kV) desirable.
• Ability to interpret technical drawings, schematics, and single-line diagrams.
• Full Category B driving licence.
• Fluent in German, with basic to intermediate English an advantage.
