We are seeking a candidate to join McKinsey’s Operations Practice in Europe as part of the Procurement service line. You will work on purchasing strategies and operational questions to help clients gain a competitive edge.

Overview

Your impact includes problem solving for clients—identifying issues, forming hypotheses, designing and conducting analyses, and synthesizing conclusions into actionable recommendations. You will work with colleagues and clients across Europe to develop purchasing strategies that support business objectives.

Responsibilities

• Identify issues, form hypotheses, design and conduct analyses, and synthesize conclusions into recommendations for clients.
• Develop and implement purchasing strategies that align with clients’ business objectives and provide a competitive edge.
• Collaborate with colleagues and clients across Europe in the Operations Practice, focusing on procurement and strategic sourcing.
• Receive training, frequent coaching, and mentoring from colleagues and senior leaders to build skills and grow as a professional.

Qualifications and Skills

• Master’s degree and exceptional academics required
• Broad experience in strategic purchasing and/or supply management (e.g., global sourcing strategies, cross-functional category management, RfQ processes and negotiations, talent development and capability building)
• Proven record of leadership in a work setting and/or through extracurricular activities
• Mobility and enthusiasm for taking on European assignments during the work week
• Exceptional analytical and quantitative problem-solving skills
• Ability to communicate complex ideas effectively, both verbally and in writing, in English and local office language

Location

Based in one of McKinsey’s European offices as part of the Operations Practice, Hamburg included.
