Expert R&D Engineer – Power Electronics for Solar PV & BESS (m/f/d)

Location: Nuremberg, Bavaria, Germany.

Huawei’s Nuremberg Research Center is responsible for Network Energy Advanced Technology Research, Architecture Evolution Design and Strategic Technology Planning.

Within the Power Conversion Technology Laboratory, we research advanced digital power technology and design power converters and control systems for PV Solar, BESS, data centres, electric vehicles and embedded power supplies.

Your Mission

Technical lead internal and external stakeholders to identify and formulate Solar PV system and BESS requirements.
Define technology roadmap development for next generation Solar PV & BESS architecture and converter structures.
Lead and execute the R&D of novel power conversion architecture and converter topologies for future Solar PV & BESS applications.
Propose innovative solutions for DC/DC & DC/AC power conversion in PV & BESS.
Collaborate closely with external R&D institutes and universities in developing novel converter and control algorithms relevant to Huawei Digital Power.
Generate novel ideas and protect them with IPR filings.
Mentor cross-discipline R&D staff members.

Your Areas of Expertise

PhD or Master’s degree in power electronics, electrical and electronic engineering, or similar R&D background.
Proven experience in high‑power electronics and systems in industrial context.
Deep expertise in power electronic converter topologies, modulation, control, and algorithm development, focusing on system and hardware design.
Strong theoretical knowledge of power conversion principles, multi‑level converters, magnetic component design, wide bandgap devices, modulation and control.
Relevant Solar PV product development expertise desirable but not mandatory.
Experience with new technology development initiatives, innovation and technical leadership.
High level of self‑reliance and autonomous target‑oriented work style.
Occasional travel for projects, seminars, conferences.
Fluent in written and spoken English; additional languages a plus.
