About the Role : We are seeking an experienced Failure Analysis Engineer to join our team in Germany. You will play a critical role in our Product Quality Operations, conducting in-depth root cause analysis on field returns. By collaborating closely with our global R&D and quality teams, you will drive continuous product improvement and excellence. This position requires solid technical expertise, systematic problem-solving skills, and outstanding cross-cultural communication abilities.
Responsibilities :
- Failure Diagnosis & Root Cause Analysis :
- Perform functional testing and deep-dive failure analysis on returned products (RMA) from the European market.
- Utilize precision instruments (oscilloscope, multimeter, Bluetooth tester, microscope, etc.) and diagnostic software to replicate failures and localize faults to the component level.
- Conduct product teardowns and physical diagnostics (e.g., solder joint inspection, component stress testing) to identify root causes such as component aging, design flaws, or environmental stress failures.
- Cross-Functional Technical Collaboration :
- Serve as a key technical liaison, working closely with warehouse, R&D, and quality teams at our headquarters (China).
- Provide expert failure analysis data and insights to drive manufacturing improvements, design optimizations, and process enhancements.
- Lead or participate in cross-time-zone technical meetings to ensure clear problem communication and effective follow-up on corrective actions.
- Knowledge Management & Process Improvement :
- Author standardized failure analysis reports and maintain a knowledge base of key failure modes and root causes.
- Continuously refine failure analysis methodologies and processes to improve team efficiency in failure identification and resolution.
Qualifications :
- Bachelor's degree or higher in Electrical Engineering, Automation, Materials Science, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
- Minimum of 4 years of hands-on experience in hardware failure analysis, preferably within the consumer electronics industry.
- Proficiency in using and understanding test equipment (oscilloscopes, multimeters, electronic loads, etc.).
- Practical skills in soldering, rework, and disassembly/assembly of electronic products.
- Strong systematic problem-solving skills with proven experience applying methodologies like 5Why or FTA (Fault Tree Analysis).
- Fluent in English and Chinese (Mandarin) for daily technical communication with warehouse, R&D, and quality teams in China.
- German language skills are a strong plus.
- Ability to work effectively across time zones and engage in regular virtual meetings with teams in China.
Preferred Skills :
- Proven experience collaborating with Asian, specifically Chinese, R&D teams.
- Experience in leading complex failure analysis projects to closure.
- Familiarity with reliability testing standards and common electronic component failure mechanisms.
