Field Applications Engineer – Automotive – Munich
Step into a newly created Field Applications Engineer position where you’ll own the technical relationship with automotive customers and shape how advanced mixed‑signal solutions are integrated into production systems. This is a hands‑on, high‑visibility role that combines customer‑facing engineering, lab work, and cross‑functional collaboration. You’ll have autonomy to define processes, influence product direction, and drive design wins across Tier‑1 suppliers, OEMs, and ecosystem partners.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide expert technical support to automotive customers both remotely and on‑site to secure new business and sustain existing accounts
- Lead acoustic and electrical troubleshooting, product evaluation, and hardware bring‑up in customer labs using industry‑standard test equipment
- Act as the primary technical liaison for automotive Tier‑1s, OEMs, and partners, translating customer needs into actionable engineering and product feedback
- Manage multiple customer projects independently, prioritising deliverables and timelines in a dynamic environment
- Collaborate closely with internal engineering and sales teams across Europe and globally to drive successful implementations and future product enhancements
What You’ll Bring
- Degree: BSc or MSc in Electrical Engineering preferred
- Experience: Minimum 5 years working with automotive Tier‑1 suppliers, OEMs, or within the semiconductor industry
- Technical knowledge: Strong understanding of automotive networking and standards such as A2B, AVB/TSN, Ethernet Audio, CAN, and LIN
- Domain expertise: Commercial project experience in at least one of the following: supporting automotive amplifiers, converters and audio codecs; haptic drivers and waveform tuning; or audio DSP algorithms, filter design and signal processing.
- Languages: Fluent German and English with excellent communication skills
- Attributes: Self‑starter who thrives with ownership, able to manage competing priorities and act decisively with minimal supervision
Practical Details
- Hybrid working model with a minimum of 2 days per week in the Munich office; in‑office days set by business needs and team preference
- Role requires occasional travel to customer sites and collaboration with engineering teams across Europe
