Financial Controller DACH (f/m/d)

We are seeking a Financial Controller for the DACH region to strengthen and further develop our accounting and controlling function.

This is a newly created role in a fast-scaling organization , offering the opportunity to step into a team lead position and grow into leadership over time. Reporting directly to the CFO DACH, you will play a key role in shaping and strengthening our finance setup. You will be responsible for overseeing accounting operations, ensuring compliance and reporting excellence, and supporting an exciting insourcing project to build internal capabilities. In this context, you will contribute to building and developing a small team while taking on increasing leadership responsibility over time. The role combines strong technical expertise with a hands-on, entrepreneurial mindset and the ambition to grow into a leadership role in a dynamic environment.

This role is based in a hybrid working model in Mannheim.

Key Responsibilities

Accounting & Financial Operations

  • Oversee and actively contribute to monthly and annual closing processes under HGB and IFRS
  • Ensure accuracy, completeness, and reliability of accounting activities
  • Manage and improve accounting records and systems

Controls, Compliance & Reporting

  • Ensure appropriate internal controls and compliance with accounting standards
  • Produce timely and accurate financial reports
  • Support audit processes and collaborate with external auditors
  • Enhance the accuracy and transparency of reported financial results

Insourcing & Process Improvement

  • Support and contribute to an insourcing project in close collaboration with the CFO
  • Help build internal accounting capabilities and structures
  • Identify and implement process improvements and efficiencies

Team Development (evolving responsibility)

  • Take on increasing responsibility in guiding and developing team members
  • Support hiring and onboarding of new team members
  • Grow into a leadership role over time

Business Partnering & Analysis

  • Provide financial insights and analysis to support decision-making
  • Monitor financial risks and key financial indicators
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders across functions

Required Experience

  • Relevant qualification in Finance, Business Administration, or a related field; additional professional certifications are an advantage.
  • Solid experience in accounting or financial controlling
  • Strong hands-on experience with monthly closing processes under HGB and IFRS
  • Initial exposure to leadership or clear motivation to grow into a team lead role
  • Strong knowledge of German accounting standards and generally accepted accounting principles
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
