Firewall Architect – Automation SpecialistWe are looking for an experienced Firewall Architect with strong automation expertise to lead the design and modernization of firewall infrastructure. This role focuses on building scalable architectures, driving automation initiatives, and ensuring high standards of security and operational efficiency. Key Responsibilities:Architecture & Design:Develop secure, scalable firewall architectures. Create clear high-level and low-level design documentation for new and existing deployments.Automation & Deployment:Build automated workflows using Ansible and AWX for firewall provisioning and configuration. Manage playbooks that standardize policy, rule, and object deployment. Automate lifecycle activities such as updates, patching, and decommissioning.Firewall Rule Automation:Design automated solutions for rule creation, removal, validation, and auditing. Enhance security posture through compliant, repeatable automation processes.Source-of-Truth Integration:Use NetBox to maintain accurate configuration data. Ensure seamless synchronization between the source of truth and firewall management systems.Collaboration & Support:Work closely with network, security, and infrastructure teams to align designs with broader architecture goals. Provide technical leadership and mentorship on automation best practices.Monitoring & Optimization:Integrate monitoring tools to track firewall performance. Continuously refine automation pipelines for higher efficiency and scalability.Documentation & Standards:Maintain comprehensive documentation across all automation workflows. Define and promote best practices and standards for firewall automation. Requirements:Technical Skills:Strong hands-on experience with major firewall platforms (Fortinet, Check Point, IPTables, or similar).Expertise with Ansible, AWX, and infrastructure automation.Practical experience using NetBox.Solid Linux and bash skills.Automation Background:Proven experience delivering automated firewall solutions at scale.Familiarity with CI/CD concepts and integrating automation into pipelines.Soft Skills:Analytical problem solver with strong communication abilities.Comfortable collaborating within cross-functional teams.Preferred:Certifications such as Fortinet NSE, Red Hat security certifications, or similar.Experience working with GitLab or other version-control platforms for automation workflows.
