The Group Earth Observation and Science in GSOC's Mission Operations department operates satellites that are mostly in low Earth orbit and for which there is no continuous contact. The primary task here is to monitor the satellites during a ground station contact, download recorded telemetry, and upload time‑tagged commands covering at least the next ground station contact. This also includes the immediate reaction to space and ground related anomalies and spacecraft emergencies, so that a 24/7 on‑call service by specially trained personnel may be necessary.
As a Flight Director (f/m/d) in the EBW group at GSOC, you will be responsible for the operation of satellite missions and the preparation of new missions in a multi‑mission context. You will be part of the operations teams of various missions, each consisting of several employees who share the tasks that arise (e.g. daily business, on‑call duty, 24/7 shift operation during sensitive project phases). Complex tasks are handled as a team thereby facilitating a deputy concept.
Remuneration is up to the German TVöD 14 depending on qualifications and assigned tasks.
